James McConico

of the

COMPTON TARBABES

 This JR RB

Is the secret that they dont talk about at Compton High School. This Young man rushed 5 times for 183 yrds and 3 touchdowns Friday night against Cabrillo. Mc Conico also caught a pass for a touchdown giving him four in the game. The Moore league defenses will have to keep their eyes on him or he'll score.

Is Paramount For Real?

It appears as though the Paramount Pirates didnt just get a new  football field this year.  It seems as if they got a new attitude  also. Going into their final non league game this week, the Pirates are 4-0 and appear unstoppable. As a team they have rushed for 719yrds and thrown for 417. They have a RB in Marcese Hudson 30 carries for 395 yrds that can get the job done. They have four receivers that can score whenever they touch the ball.  Sitting on top of the San Gabriel Valley league right now, can this last thru November.

The Pirates will have to show Lyn, Dominguez and Gahr that they mean business if they want to have a shot at the playoffs .

Jordan of Long Beach players say that they are ready to make a run for the Moore League title this year. The buzz in North Long Beach is that the football team has overcome issues that troubled the program in the past and that they are now playing as a team. The loss to Santa Monica last week was the first this season and they are about to begin league play. Millikan will be a test this Friday, but their entire league schedule will take a team effort and mistake free football if they want to earn a playoff spot.

You will play the way you practice. So Remember

PRACTICE COUNTS

CATHEDRAL 42 EAGLEROCK 7

Saturday Night the Cathedral Phantoms were unstoppable against the Eagle Rock Eagles. In a game in which star running back Randoll Carroll DNP. quarterback Shaun Alexander was accurate to the point of throwing 24 of 35 for 285 yrds and 3 touchdowns., the Phantoms were firing on all cylinders. Dorsey transfers Kevin Ally and Josh Williamson also made contributions in the win.

Eagle Rock played a game full of missed blocking assignments and defensive let downs . It appears that after losing  to Huntington Pk in the playoffs and then losing Coach Jerry Chou  to Glendale, the Eagles have a lot of rebuilding to do. League play will begin for the Phantoms this week. They are playing strong enough to do well in their league, but they will need to carry that momentum into their last game against Gardena Serra.

L.B. Poly 32- Lakewood 15

Long Beach Poly and Lakewood  squared off in a Moore league showdown last Friday night. With all the residue of the four game forfeit floating over their heads. The Lakewood Lancers hosted the Poly Jackrabbits and woke up from their lethargic week down at halftime 25-0.

They played with signs of life in the second half pulling to within ten on Jessie Scroggins quarterbacking (15 for 33 for 186 yrds) and two touchdowns. The effort was galant but not strong enough to stop the play of Daveon Barner who scored on an 80 yrd run to end Lakewood's hope for a victory. Barner's run capped off a 125 yrd rushing performance on only seven carries. This night would belong to Poly......
